Burlap, Canvas and Wood, Oh My!

This past spring, I began seeing mutterings among Facebook about this place where you can create different things on canvases.  It’s called Ms. Arty Pants Creation Station and it is located in the neighboring town.  I’ve heard about the various canvas panting places where you go on a specific night and everyone paints the same painting.  Ms. Arty Pants is sorta like that except you can paint whatever you want whenever you go!  Score!    I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to wait several weeks to go paint something I actually want to paint at the other places.  I don’t want to spend a couple of hours painting a flower pot when I know it does not go with my home interior or whatever.  O-well, I digress.

If you are looking for something fun to do and that the whole family can enjoy, please check out Ms. Arty Pants Creation Station located in Waynesville, NC.  Here is a little more detail about Ms. Arty Pants used with permission:
"Ms. Arty Pants offers everything from themed arty parties, adult paint sessions, private parties, children’s paint sessions, mommy and me sessions, children’s craft sessions, sewing classes, furniture repurposing classes and much more!
Ms. Arty Pants is not about a “lesson” or “class”... instead is an interactive approach of discovering the artist inside you. Ms. Arty Pants does not “teach” or “instruct” she simply guides you along the way. You do not have to know how to paint or craft to join one of our sessions. If painting, you choose the painting from our selection and we have a pre-sketched canvas ready and waiting for you to create! So, don’t be gettin’ all NERVOUS, you will discover the “artist within”! Our sessions will allow you to create a masterpiece you will be so PROUD of! So, watch for updates on two different Facebook accounts…Ms. Arty Pants Creation Station BUSINESS PAGE (be sure to “like” page and you will receive all new info) AND Msartypants Creationstation as a FRIEND PAGE. We will post monthly session information and keep you as up to date as possible!"

Basically Ms. Arty Pants will sketch out what you want to paint and when you arrive its ready to go.  The best way to describe it is to imagine that you are coloring except using paint in lieu of crayons.  You can also choose the medium you want to create it on: canvas, wood or burlap.

I have been itching to go to Ms. Arty Pants for a while now and didn’t get the opportunity until my sister invited me to go with her in August.  I had so much fun and was hooked.  I decided to make something for the dresser-turned-console table when you walk into my house.  I wanted a more rustic look so I chose to go with wood over canvas.  This is how my first project turned out:

Wood - "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."

Then last Saturday, the Mr. was helping a friend and then going to hang out and watch some college football.  Since he was busy, I figured I would find something to do as well.  I happened to see on Facebook that Ms. Arty Pants was going to have an open burlap door hanger session that same morning so I signed up.  I wanted to make a Florida Gators door hanger for game days.  The Mr. wanted me to make it on a football, but I thought I would dress it up a little and went with something a little more whimsical.
Burlap - Florida Gators Door Hanger
GO GATORS!

Earlier this week, some girlfriends and I met up to make something new. It was fun because most of the girls had not been or hadn’t heard about it yet and everyone was excited to try it out. It was so much fun and we had a blast watching each other’s creations come to life. Here are some of the things that were made:
Christine's Wood - Family Sign.
I love décor stamped with an "est." date.  The
burlap bow sets it off.

Aggie's Burlap - Pumpkin Door Hanger is perfect for fall.
I am loving the extra burlap fringe on the outside edge.

Anna's Burlap - Christmas Stocking Door Hanger
How flippin' adorable is this for the Christmas season?

Alyse's Burlap - Auburn Football Door Hanger.I can't say I like Auburn, but I do like the football.

Jane's Wood - Bathroom Sign
“You are the Bubbles to my Bath” how cute is that for a bathroom?
 Meagan's Canvas Painting - Love Birds sitting in a Tree
I love everything about this painting.
It reminds me of my wedding invitation (minus the birds and hanging heart).

Jeremy and Brandy's Extended Canvas Bamboo Shoot Painting
1) I love that their canvases go together;
2) Jealous that Jeremy is cool and will do fun stuff like this with his wife;
3) Sad knowing that I could NEVER get the Mr. to do something like this with me! ha!

My Burlap - Fall Leaves and Acorn Cluster Door Hanger
I came up with this idea and thanks to Ms. Arty Pants it came out as I imagined!
I believe it is safe to say that we all had a blast and left with beautiful pieces to jazz up our homes in  some way or another.  I am looking forward to going back.
